Our Strategy & Co-Investing

Molten VCT gives investors access to a portfolio of ambitious private technology companies across the UK and Europe.

We invest mainly in early-stage and growth-stage businesses: companies with the potential to grow quickly, but which are still building, scaling and proving their markets.

Molten has been backing technology companies for more than twenty years. While past performance is not a guide to the future, that experience shapes how we source opportunities, assess companies and support founders after investment.

Through the VCT, investors can gain exposure to companies working in areas such as AI, fintech, health, deeptech and more – sectors where new ideas can change how industries work.

Why co-investment matters

In venture capital, access matters. The most promising private technology companies can attract strong interest from experienced investors. That can make it harder for smaller funds to invest in competitive funding rounds, especially when companies need larger amounts of capital to keep growing.

Molten Ventures VCT is designed to benefit from its relationship with Molten Ventures plc. By investing alongside Molten Ventures plc in selected qualifying opportunities, the VCT can access deals, insight and experience that may otherwise be harder to reach.

How co-investing works

Molten Ventures VCT can invest directly alongside Molten Ventures plc in selected qualifying companies. When Molten Ventures plc leads or takes part in an investment round, the VCT may also invest, provided the opportunity meets the VCT’s investment criteria and qualifying rules.

Where the VCT invests alongside Molten Ventures plc, it does so on the same financial terms. This means VCT shareholders can benefit from the same pricing and core investment terms as Molten Ventures plc for that round.

The VCT also benefits from the wider Molten platform, including: shared investment research and due diligence, experience from sector-focused investment teams, visibility over future funding needs and ongoing support for portfolio companies as they scale.

Advantages for VCT shareholders

Access to high-growth companies

The co-investment strategy can help the VCT access competitive private technology investment opportunities that are often difficult for smaller investors to reach directly.

Shared insight and diligence

The VCT can benefit from the investment research, sector knowledge and due diligence carried out across the Molten platform.

Same financial terms

Where the VCT invests alongside Molten Ventures plc in a qualifying round, it invests on the same financial terms for that round.

Support beyond capital

Molten supports portfolio companies with more than funding. Our teams can help with areas such as talent, commercial growth, international expansion, strategic partnerships and M&A.

Long-term visibility

Because Molten invests across different stages and strategies, the VCT may benefit from a clearer view of how companies are developing and what support they may need next.

A clear strategy, built for long-term growth

Molten Ventures VCT brings together the tax-efficient structure of a VCT with the scale, network and experience of the wider Molten platform.

The result is a simple idea: give VCT investors access to a carefully selected portfolio of private technology companies, backed by a team built to find, fund and support ambitious founders.

As with all VCT investments, capital is at risk. The value of your investment can go down as well as up, and you may not get back the full amount you invest.
